Surgeon urges kids to care about education

Roderick Claybrooks, 35, who graduated with honors from the Wayne State University School of Medicine, is living his dream as an orthopedic surgeon in Southfield. According to the Association of American Medical Colleges, Claybrooks is one of the 3 percent of African-American doctors with such credentials. In addition to his medical practice, Claybrooks is the author of "The Black Student's Guide to Success." "What I want them to see is that it is possible to be born in the city of Detroit and still make it," said Claybrooks. "Education is the surest way out of the ghetto. Bar none."
